Lavrov: Nato Infrastructure Push to Asia Makes Bid for Long-Term Confrontation

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the promotion of NATO infrastructure in Asia “makes a serious bid” for confrontation with the countries of the region for many years to come. As an example of “NATO military infrastructure” in Asia, Mr. Lavrov named the alliance of Australia, the United States and Great Britain AUKUS.

“The Anglo-Saxon world with the creation of bloc structures like AUKUS, with the promotion of NATO military infrastructure in Asia, is making a serious bid for confrontation for many years, because I can’t imagine how the great Asian civilizations will simply be saluted, as, unfortunately, the European Union did, and will obediently carry out the plans of Washington and our other Anglo-Saxon colleagues,” Sergey Lavrov said at the opening of the founding congress of the International Movement of Russophiles (quoted by RIA Novosti).

Mr. Lavrov also said that Russia “never makes friends with someone against someone.” He also called for trying not to “treat someone down”, as “Western colleagues” do, publicly demanding from everyone in a row, including countries representing the most ancient great civilizations, to follow their orders.

In Asia, there are several alliances in which NATO countries participate. Among them are the AUKUS alliance (Australia, the US and the UK) and the Quadripartite Security Dialogue (QUAD; US, Japan, Australia, India).
